Part 5 "Tikal"

Michelle writes:
Took a day-trip to Tikal, which was great! I liked the jungle and the feeling of space after being in the city.
The ruins are over 1000 years old and around 18 stories tall! Above the jungle canopy, the temples reach to the heavens.

The acoustics of the plaza are amazing, so the ruler could be heard. Currently there are engineers, anthropologists, archeologists, and architects working on the restoration. Think of the science that went into the construction: to have the window of one temple lined up with the window of the next temple so the rising sun on the equinox and solstice would shine through.  Amazing!! These ancient cultures were so advanced and in tune with the natural world.
Talking of 2012, the guide said it will be a new era, a more positive era. This last cycle was negative. The next has a greater connection to the animal world, which didn't sound so good at first: our animal nature?

But he explained that it is a deeper connection to the natural world and we will be better stewards of our resources. I hadn't heard that version of 2012 before.
